Playing in Hot Weather increases the chance players can experience Heat Exhaustion, Heat Stroke, Cramps, and many other issues. While these are serious risks, they are also preventable through proper preparation. It is up to parents and coaches to make sure their players are taking in the appropriate precautions, drinking the right amount of liquids not just on practice and game days, but especially on the days leading up to practices and games.
> 90 Heat Index - GKGSC will enforce mandatory breaks in play:
- At least one break per half for all games
- Water Breaks every 15-20 minutes during practices
> 105 Heat Index - GKGSC will enforce enforce mandatory breaks in play:
- At least two breaks per half for games for games exceeding 60-minutes in length
- Water Breaks every 15 minutes during practices
> 120 Heat Index - GKGSC will cancel Practices and Games:
- Above 120 on the Heat Index conditions can be categorized under “Extreme Danger,” in cases of extreme risks to our players GKGSC will cancel programs
